How important are building permits when renovating your home ? As part of my listing interview the questions I ask are?

#1 Do you have an updated RPR ( Real Property Report) with compliance from the municipality. Also, recent renovations are critical to the sale or the purchase of the home . My #2 question is ” Did you get building permits for your renovation ? I am not talking about paint & carpet , I am talking structural , electrical, plumbing , HVAC these are the permits we need.No matter , I suggest get them.
